Some say that the use of fertilizers has achieved more to reduce world hunger than any other policy or innovation. With growing demand for solutions that use nutrient resources more efficiently and have less impact on the environment, fertilizer companies and farmers cannot rest on their laurels.

The world population continues to grow. People need to be fed. Even in regions where soil nutrients and rainfall are not ideal for growing crops. The challenge is to produce more food, including fruits, grains and vegetables, without increasing our environmental footprint.

Fertilizer Production

There are several problems to be solved when producing fertilizers.

The availability of raw materials and the demand are in different places.
This means that production is only possible at great distances from the actual place of use.

The production quantity is therefore distributed among many farmers.
The use of fertilizers when not specifically applied leads to increased over-fertilization with corresponding damage to the environment.
To avoid the above-mentioned over-fertilization, the fertilizers must be mixed and applied specifically according to the needs of the respective areas.

The solution to this will be

A central industrial production near the raw materials.
LUMA is investigating various locations in the Middle East and North Africa (i.e. Jordan,
Syria, Egypt, Morocco, ...) to set up such a production.
Decentralized compilation of the fertilizer mixture near the consumers.
LUMA is in contact with various countries that have a high demand for fertilizers, in which a compilation of fertilizer mixture and a sales network can be set up.
Particularly worth mentioning here are Brazil and India.
